Vision 

The Department of English strengthens the liberal education of students by developing

a deepened understanding of language and literacy, the value of critical reading and effective writing that helps the students to build the knowledge of content and methods of literary studies and academic professional and creative writing.

Programme Educational Objective (PEOs)

The Objective of the Programme (English)

PEO1 – To impart Language and Learning Skills of a higher order than those envisaged under Part – II English through introducing Literary constructs.

PEO2 – To acquaint the learners with representative works in various genres in various periods so that they learn to focus on individual writers and the evolution of genres.

PEO3 – To initiate young learners into the approaches and methods of literary study and encourage library use through judicious exposure.

PEO4 – To promote peer group interaction through seminars and group assignments.

PEO5 – To facilitate independent reading of Literary Texts in various genres as a prelude to project work.
