Dr. Umayal Ramanathan College For Women (URCW) was established in 2006 and is named after Dr. Mrs. Umayal Ramanathan, the beloved daughter of Padma Bhushan Dr. R.M. Alagappa Chettiar. The college embodies the educational vision of the Alagappa family, dedicated to empowering women through quality higher education.
Located on a serene 15-acre campus in historic Alagappapuram, Karaikudi, URCW is part of the Dr. Alagappa Chettiar Educational Trust and affiliated to Alagappa University. The college is recognized under UGC sections 2(f) and 12(B), a testament to its academic standing and infrastructure.
In its second cycle of NAAC assessment, URCW achieved a prestigious Grade A accreditation with a CGPA of 3.22 out of 4, reflecting the institution's unwavering commitment to academic excellence, research, and holistic development.
