Gender Sensitization & Sexual Harassment Prevention Cell
The Gender Sensitization and Sexual Harassment Prevention Cell (GSSHP Cell) at Dr. URCW had its inception in 2022. The cell aims to create awareness and promote gender justice among the academic and non-academic community in this educational institution. Here are its key objective:
- Resolve Issues Pertaining to Sexual Harassment: The cell addresses complaints related to sexual harassment within the college premises.
- Provide a Platform for Complaints and Redressal: It offers a safe space for students and staff to report incidents and seek redressal.
- Equip Stakeholders with Legal Knowledge: It educates students, faculty, and staff about their legal rights and how to address grievances.
- The Cell organizes various awareness programs, workshops, and seminars to achieve these objectives.

Awareness on eliminating violence against women
The student volunteers of the cell went to Pudhuvayal and created awareness among the people about the elimination of violence against women. They also distributed pamphlets containing the Helpline numbers for women and children.
Commemoration of International Day for Elimination of Violence against Women
International Day for Elimination of Violence against Women was observed in our campus on 25.011.2022. The faculties and students administered pledge on women rights.
A special lecture on “Prevention and Redressal of Sexual Harassment”
Gender sensitization and sexual harassment prevention Cell organized a special lecture on “Prevention and Redressal of Sexual Harassment” on 08.02.2023 at the college campus. Our Principal Dr. A. Hemamalini presided over the programme and Dr. M. Ayisha Millath, Assistant Professor, Alagappa Institute of Management, Karaikudi addressed and guided our students about how to overcome sexual harassment in future. The students actively participated and interacted enthusiastically.
Prevention of Violence Against Women and Children on
The Gender Champions of our college Miss. PL. Alagammai, III B.Sc., Microbiology & CLT and Miss. N. Shanmugapriya, III B.Sc., Microbiology & CLT addressed the school students about respectful relationships, gender equality and positive attitudes towards girls and women. They also presented the statistical record of violence against women in India and also elaborated their speech with the legal provisions for the protection of women. In their address they emphasized on the strategies to be adopted for the change of mindset, which can be done with the help of young generation of educational institutions.
