The Sports Committee at Dr. Umayal Ramanathan College for Women was established  in 2006 with the fundamental aim of fostering a thriving sports culture within the college community. Since its inception, the committee has been dedicated to encourage active participation in sports and physical activities among the students. Through the organization of various events such as inter-college tournaments, intramural competitions, and sports clinics, the committee aims to provide ample opportunities for students to showcase their talents and engage in healthy competition.  Furthermore, the committee prioritizes the promotion of physical fitness and well- being, recognizing the importance of leading an active lifestyle for overall health. By fostering teamwork, camaraderie, and sportsmanship, the Sports Committee not only aims to develop athletic skills but also to instill valuable life lessons and character traits in the students. Through its efforts, the committee plays a crucial role in enhancing the overall college experience and contributing to the holistic development of the students.

“Intramural Sports 2022” – students participated in various events according to their interests.

On 12^th October 2022 our college organized Alagappa University Intercollegiate Volleyball Tournament for Women. Our College Principal Dr A.Hemamalini presided over the function. Vice Principal Dr L.Visalakshi felicitated the gathering.

The Convenor Dr M.Selvam, Joint Convenor Dr B.Ashokkumar,Tournament Committee members, along with Manager of Alagappa Chettiar Educational Trust Mr Kasiviswanathan, Alagappa Academy Principal Mr Sivakumar, Alagappa Matriculation School Principal Mr Nehru has graced the Occasion.

Out of 12 colleges, Dr.URCW team received the third    place.Tournament was well organized by Ms M.Elayarani,Director of Physical Education,Dr URCW.

Our Kabaddi team has Participated in Alagappa University Intercollegiate Kabaddi Tournament 2022-2023 on 04-11-2022 at Syed Hameedha Arts and Science College,Kilakarai, Ramanathapuram.

Our Football team has Participated in Alagappa University Intercollegiate Football Tournament 2022-2023 on 17^th& 18^th October 2022 at Syed Hameedha Arts and Science College,Kilakarai, Ramanathapuram.P.Keshika III BA Tamil has selected for University.

Our Hockey team has Participated in Alagappa University Intercollegiate Hockey Tournament 2022-2023 on 18-11-2022 at Alagappa Government Arts College, Karaikudi and achieved Third Place in the Tournament. G.Sneha II B.Com has eligible for Form-III Certificate.

Our Athletic Meet has Participated in Alagappa University Intercollegiate Athletics in K.L.N Arts & Science College, Pottapalayam on 14.12.2022 & 15.12.2022.K,Divyadharshini III B.Sc Biotechnology won Third Prize in 100 Mts Hurdles and First Prize in Pole Vault(1.90) and eligible for Form-III certificate.

Our Kh0-Kho Team has Participated in Alagappa University Intercollegiate Kho-Kho Tournament on 03-01-2023 at Thassim Beevi Abdul Kader College for Women,Ramanathapuram and won the Fourth place. A.Suthipriya II M.A English has selected for Alagappa university.

Our Ball Badminton Team has participated in Alagappa University Intercollegiate Ball Badminton Women Tournament on 07-01-2023 at Alagappa Government Arts College, Karaikudi and achieved Second Place in the Tournament.

Our Handball team has Participated in Alagappa University Intercollegiate Handball Tournament on 23rd January,2023 at Dr. Zakir Husain College, Ilayangudi.

Our college students k.Divyadarshini participated in the hurdles event and finished second runner-up andthird in the long jump event. She received checks of Rs 2000 and Rs 1000 as prize money. Principal Dr. A. Hema Malini felicitates the successful student.

Tamil Nadu Sports Development Authority, District Level Sports Competitions for Chief Minister Cup was held at Sivagangai on 11.02.23. Our college girls participated in the hand ball game and won the second stage. A check of Rs 22000 was given as the winning prize.

Our college, Dr. Umayal Ramanathan College for Women, conducted a handball tournament on January 3, 2024.

Our hockey team participated in the Alagappa University Intercollegiate football Tournament for the 2023-2024 academic year, held on October 16th, 2023, at syed ammal arts and science college in Ramanathapuram.

Our yoga team participated in the Alagappa University Intercollegiate yoga Tournament for the 2023-2024 academic year, held on October 13th, 2023, at PMT Memorial college, Kamuthi

Alagappa Group of Institutions hosted a sports event on February 16th and 17th, 2024, with  Mr. K.R Periya Karuppan MLA as the esteemed chief guest. The chief guest and the college principal delivered valuable speeches during the sports day festivities, inspiring and motivating the participants. The event featured various sports activities, fostering teamwork, camaraderie, and healthy competition among the attendees. It provided a platform for students to showcase their talents and celebrate the spirit of sportsmanship.
