Overview

The Department of Information Technology was started in the year 2006 at the inception of the college with the basic objective of providing skill-based education in the field of Information Technology. Now the department has UG, PG and PG Diploma Programmes. The PG Course was established in 2009 and the PG Diploma in Data Science is started in the year 2022.

The Department has 8 faculty members with diverse specialization and qualification with rich experience.

The department strives to produce eminent IT professionals of industry expectations. To fulfill this objective, the software, hardware and the curriculum are updated regularly.

The department provides state of art laboratories serving the students to develop the IT skills and to enhance the individual potential in managing the hardware, software,network and data management.

The department has witnessed proud moments of excellence in academics which is the result of the untiring efforts of the prudent staff members and students. The department has produced 53 university rank holders in UG and 38 rank holders in PG. The department has so far produced 17 Gold medal-University first rank holders.

Students are supported with various national scholarships and state government scholarships. National level workshops, seminars and international level conferences are conducted regularly to provide an invaluable platform for student community to meet, exchange ideas and interact with experts to enrich their knowledge.

The students are provided with various opportunities to enhance and expose their talents through IT association, Techies Club. Students are encouraged and motivated to participate in intra collegiate and intercollegiate technical competitions apart from sports and cultural competitions.

The students completing an Information Technology programme will be able to present Software application clearly and precisely, make abstract ideas precise by formulating them in the Computer languages. Completion of this programme will also enable the learners to join teaching profession, enhance their employability for government jobs, jobs in software industry, banking, insurance and investment sectors, data analyst jobs and jobs in various other public and private enterprises.
